Giving Up is Not an Option
by Cielo Cloud
I am a go getter but I remember a time when I wasn’t. I allowed myself to get discouraged by obstacles or challenges very easily. As soon as I started to feel burdened by something, I would lose interest and give up.
However, through a lot of significant life lessons, I realized that giving up was NOT an option for me. I could no longer allow other people to have control over my actions or emotions. I was the only person who was responsible for me.
There were times I didn’t even have goals and lacked motivation. Today, it baffles me how some people are so quick to give up when things get tough or too inconvenient for them. However, I used to be same way not long ago, .
Most of the time, we don’t know what we are giving up on because we never gave it a chance in the first place. Some of us never had hopes or dreams. Maybe our WHY was not BIG enough.
Instead we give excuses because we just don’t see the bigger picture. We close our minds to opportunities or possibilities that come our way. We are not willing to sacrifice what it takes to get something better than what we have now. We settle for mediocrity.
Mediocrity is a slow death. When a person stops dreaming, they are already dead inside. Sounds harsh I know but we have a heart and it beats for a reason…we all have a purpose.
Every day I hear people complain or make up reasons why they can’t do what they know they need to do. They are quick to do things that makes no sense. Even is it adds no significant impact on their lives.
Sometimes things happen that we can’t control. However, we can not allow it to keep us down for too long. Despite certain circumstances, it is up to us on how we react to it. Instead, we have allowed circumstances to control us and have allowed ourselves to become victims. We shift blame from ourselves to someone else.
We really don’t want to make certain sacrifices because it is just too scary to step out without guarantees. We want to stay where it feels safe…our comfort zone.
I believe that people will do what they have to do if they really want something bad enough. Sometimes we need to take a chance and just leap out on faith!
What do we really want for our lives?
I have learned that anything worth having is never free nor is it easy to obtain. One must seek it and pursue it with passion and vigor. The accomplishment in itself is rewarding.
When we give up on things so easily, we will never discover our true purpose in life. We will be like everyone else and living day by day just to get by.
We have to keep pushing forward toward our goals and dreams despite the challenges or obstacles because it is worth it. We deserve to have the best life for ourselves and our loved ones!
The challenges and obstacles are really created to help strengthen us, refine us and make us better people.
Let’s take some personal inventory here.
- What do we truly want to achieve?
- How are we going to get there?
- How bad do we want it and why?
- How will this change our current circumstances and our lives?
- Whose lives will this impact other than mine?
Do you see the bigger picture?
When we begin to see and understand the end result, giving up will no longer be an option for you. Many times we don’t even realize that our decisions impact other people’s lives not just our own. I look at my children’s faces and when they smile I smile. I know it is not about me. Our life is a message and someone else is watching.
Keep pushing forward and don’t let anything or anyone keep you from accomplishing your goals and dreams. Allow the challenges strengthen you.
Someone is counting on you and looking up to you.
Don’t ever give up.
It would be great if you could share tips on how you persevere through tough times.
